Storm closes several Seacoast roads and creates slippery travel conditions on several area highways.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Many schools in New Hampshire schools were closed or delayed Friday and many vehicles ran into accidents on slick roads as a winter storm moved through the state.
Route 1A flooded and the police departments in Rye and North Hampton closed the road as the storm hit the Seacoast.
State Police in the Bedford area said they responded to 93 motor vehicle crashes, vehicles off the roadway and disabled motorists. Most of the accidents happened on the Everett Turnpike, Interstate 293 and Interstate 93, causing significant traffic delays earlier in the day.
Police said in one of the incidents, a trooper's cruiser was swiped by a passing driver while he was dealing with an accident. The trooper suffered minor injuries.
